This Weekend? (2009) & The Bosigran Project (2008). Artist-led off-site projects in partnership with the National Trust in West Cornwall
Cliffs & High Country of West Cornwall
Following an Arts Council funded residency at Bosigran Farm, Zennor (2007-8), Jon Brookes (then Countryside Manager, NT West Penwith) and I set up BOSarts to commission funded artist projects in off-site locations.
2008 The first Project at Bosigran Farm commissioned three other artists to make work: Rebecca Weeks, Andy Whall, Ian Whitford. It was open to the public for three weeks with temporary installations in the landscape, performances, school visits, guided walks, a 3-day artist camping seminar and culminating in an Open Farm Weekend. A highlight was seeing a former farmer return with his family, working horse and cart to Bosigran, he hadn't been back since his family had had to live over 50 years before. Photos to follow soon - they're currently 'archived'.
2009 'This Weekend?' We commissioned six artist projects from Bodmin Moor to Cape Cornwall. Projects were funded for a month of residency-like research leading to a one weekend public project. The project was focused on heritage landscape dissonance and took Claire Doherty's 'One Day Sculpture' project in New Zealand as a starting point. The project finished with a farm camping seminar for artists.
BOSarts was funded by a range of funders including the National Trust, FEAST Cornwall, AONB and the Arts Council G4A. With thanks to all the NT staff, the many artists and academics involved.
